LyricsJohn 6:68 The end of the road we see Where else can we go? You speak the words that we need And forgive our sins O Lord, where else, but you? When all's said and done what remains Of our hopes and plans? When all's said and done what remains But our hope in you? O Lord, what else, but you? Wounded Messiah, God's Son Who else can save? God in creation, shares our pain Who else can understand O Lord, who else, but you? O Lord, who else, but you? O Lord, who else, but you? Music © 2007 Richard Fenton, Alanna Rodgers and Andy Judd Words © 2007 Andy Judd Reading the gospels it is hard not to be struck by their no-nonsense honesty. One of my favourite moments is John 6:68. By the end of John 6, it have become clear that the Jesus bandwagon will be no smooth ride, and many disciples walk away – it’s just too hard. The Lord asks the few remaining followers whether they will leave as well, at which point Simon Peter chimes in with one humanity’s most humble and most heroic statements: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
